About

About DermalGuide

DermalGuide lists what skincare and makeup labels say, side by side: 478 products from 32 brands, 436 ingredient guides and 22 buying and how-to guides.

What we do

Every product page is built from the brand's own published ingredient list and product page. We link to that source and show the date we last checked it. Each ingredient on the list links to a guide that explains what it is and why it's there. Where a label lists fragrance or scent oils, we say so, even when the product is sold as fragrance free. You can read the details in how we check labels.

What we don't do

Who writes the guides

The guides are written by Nora Ellison, DermalGuide's founder, who researches and writes every page.

Nora Ellison is not a dermatologist, chemist or other licensed professional, and the site claims no medical or scientific credentials. The guides rely on published sources instead: brand ingredient lists, the EU CosIng ingredient database, and peer-reviewed or regulatory references cited on each ingredient guide.

How the site is funded

DermalGuide is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program. When you buy through an Amazon link on this site, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Commissions never change the facts we list, and the products in our picks boxes are chosen by label facts, not by commission.
