Side-by-side comparisons

COSRX Centella Toner vs Hydrium Ampoule

Should I choose COSRX Centella Water Alcohol-Free Toner or Hydrium Centella Aqua Soothing Ampoule?

Short answer

Choose Centella Water Alcohol-Free Toner if you want a watery spray step with only nine listed ingredients. Choose Hydrium Centella Aqua Soothing Ampoule if you want a slightly thicker serum step with centella extract, madecassoside and panthenol before moisturizer. Both are sold as fragrance free and list no exfoliating acids.

What this means for you

Start with what you notice

Both are fragrance-free COSRX centella products for sensitive-feeling skin with visible redness. The difference is the step: a spray toner or a few drops of ampoule.

The ingredient names, translated

The toner is mostly water with centella leaf water, panthenol, allantoin and sodium hyaluronate. The ampoule lists centella extract second, plus glycerin, sugarcane extract, allantoin, madecassoside and panthenol. Both are leave-on and go before moisturizer.

How to decide

  • Want the shortest ingredient list? Centella Water Toner.
  • Want a serum-style step with more centella? Hydrium Centella Ampoule.
  • Like to mist your face? Centella Water Toner.

Spray toner vs ampoule

COSRX Centella Water Alcohol-Free Toner is a 150 mL spray toner with nine listed ingredients. COSRX highlights Jeju mineral water and 10% centella leaf water, and the label adds panthenol, allantoin and sodium hyaluronate.

COSRX Hydrium Centella Aqua Soothing Ampoule is a 40 mL ampoule. Centella extract is second on the list, with glycerin, betaine, sugarcane extract, allantoin, madecassoside and panthenol. COSRX says to use two or three drops before moisturizer.

Skin Realist check: if your skin stings with everything, fewer products help more than adding layers. Start with one.

Common questions

Are they fragrance free?

COSRX sells both as fragrance free, and neither label lists fragrance or essential oils.

Can I use both?

Yes. Neither lists an exfoliating acid. The toner goes on first, then the ampoule, then moisturizer.

Does the toner contain alcohol?

It doesn't list alcohol denat or ethanol. Its label lists water, centella leaf water, butylene glycol, 1,2-hexanediol, betaine, panthenol, allantoin, ethyl hexanediol and sodium hyaluronate.
