ELEMIS Pro-Collagen Balm vs Superfood Butter
Should I choose ELEMIS Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm or Superfood Glow Cleansing Butter?
Short answer
Choose Superfood Glow Cleansing Butter if you want a melting cleanser without listed fragrance or essential oils, with mango butter and fruit ferments, that also works as a quick rinse-off mask. Choose Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm if you love an aromatic, spa-style ritual: it's an almond-oil balm with lavender, eucalyptus, geranium and clove oils that turns to milk with water. Both are first-cleanse products for makeup and sunscreen.
What this means for you
Start with what you notice
Both melt makeup and sunscreen as a first cleanse. The decision is mostly about scent: an aromatic ritual, or a label without fragrance.
The ingredient names, translated
Cleansing balms and butters use oils and emulsifiers to dissolve makeup, then turn milky with water so they rinse off. Pro-Collagen leads with sweet almond oil and adds several essential oils and fragrance. Superfood Glow uses a lighter triglyceride base with mango butter and fermented acerola cherry and pumpkin.
How to decide
- Avoiding fragrance or essential oils? Superfood Glow Cleansing Butter.
- Want an aromatic, spa-like evening ritual and fragrance doesn't bother you? Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm.
- Nut allergy? Check Pro-Collagen's label; sweet almond oil is the first ingredient.
What to expect
Either should remove makeup when massaged in and rinsed well. Follow with a second cleanse if your skin feels residue. We haven't tested either product.

Scent decides it
ELEMIS Superfood Glow Cleansing Butter leads with caprylic/capric triglyceride, glycerin and water, with mango seed butter, chia seed oil and fermented acerola cherry and pumpkin. ELEMIS says it works as a makeup remover, daily cleanser or one-minute rinse-off mask. No fragrance or essential oils appear on the recorded list.
ELEMIS Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm leads with sweet almond oil, then emollients and beeswax derivatives, elder, oat and wheat germ oils, shea butter and starflower oil. It also lists fragrance and several essential oils. ELEMIS says it turns from balm to oil to milk with water.
Skin Realist check: a lovely smell is a legitimate reason to buy a cleanser. It’s just not a reason to keep using one that makes your skin itch.
Label differences worth knowing
Pro-Collagen’s essential oils include lavender, eucalyptus and clove, plus allergens such as linalool and limonene. ELEMIS reports a 129-person user trial for Superfood Glow. See our double cleansing guide and our Pro-Collagen vs Perricone balm comparison.
